NC-SARA Board Announces Call for Nominations for New Board Directors
The NC-SARA Board is now accepting nominations from the public for new board directors to begin three-year terms in January 2026, with possible re-election to an additional three-year term. Nominations are open from June 2, 2025 – July 3, 2025. Nominees will be reviewed by the NC-SARA Board Governance and Nominations Committee and Executive Committee, which will then make recommendations for consideration and a vote by the board at its October 2025 meeting.
AV the NC-SARA Board
The NC-SARA Board includes the presidents of the four regional education compacts, as well as leaders from states, institutions, accreditors, and other higher educational organizations and associations, to assure that the perspectives of all stakeholder groups are represented, while keeping the board small enough to be workable and effective.
The board has several committees to help facilitate its activities and governance:
- Executive Committee
- Finance Committee
- Consumer Protection & Policy Committee
- Governance & Nominations Committee
- Strategy Committee
Board Directors’ General Responsibilities
- Attend and prepare for two in-person board meetings, held in the spring and fall, each lasting a duration of two days.
- Attend and prepare for virtual board meetings (as needed).
- Serve on one or more of the board’s committees. Committee meetings vary in frequency; board directors can expect to meet approximately every other month.
- Contribute to the overall leadership and governance of NC-SARA by understanding and following the bylaws and procedures of the NC-SARA board.

- Please include your name and contact information along with the nominee’s name and contact information in the body of the email.
- Please attach a brief (1-2 paragraph) rationale statement for why you are nominating this person, which includes:
- their history of board membership,
- current boards and board committees on which they serve,
- any relevant volunteer or educational experience.
- Please attach the nominee’s curriculum vitae or resume.
- If you have previously nominated the candidate for consideration, please note the year(s) applied.
- If the nominee has relevant skills related to governance practices, strategic planning, board succession planning, student consumer protections, or strategic financial planning, please outline and expound on their experience.
How To Self-Nominate

Review and Selection
- All submissions will be reviewed by the NC-SARA Governance and Nominations Committee and Executive Committee.
- The board will vote on new directors at the October 2025 NC-SARA board meeting.
- Newly elected directors’ terms will commence in January 2026.
Other
- NC-SARA board directors are not paid for their service.
- Reasonable expenses related to travel while participating in board meetings are covered by NC-SARA.
